🚀 Update October 2026: Centro Business 2.0 Firmware "9.52.26" (B20) replaces 9.52.24 (PPP-Passthrough fix) — further details in the Release Note.

Diagnostic tools

The diagnostic tools in the router portal help you check the router's network connection to a target. Two standard tools are available: Ping and Traceroute. Both run directly from the router and are useful for narrowing down reachability and connection problems.

info

As a target you can enter a web address, an IP address or a host name, for example «www.google.ch», «195.186.1.162» or «MyPC».

Ping

Ping checks whether a target is reachable from the router and how long it takes to respond. The router sends small test packets to the target and measures whether and how quickly they are answered.

How to run a ping:

  1. Enter the desired web address, IP address or host name in the Target field.
  2. Click Ping.
  3. The result shows whether the target responds and how high the response times are.
tip

If a target does not respond, it does not necessarily mean it is offline – some servers do not answer ping requests for security reasons.

Traceroute

Traceroute traces the path that the data packets take from the router to the target. It shows all intermediate stations (hops) along with their respective response times. This makes it possible to identify where a connection becomes slow or breaks down.

How to run a traceroute:

  1. Enter the desired web address, IP address or host name in the Target field.
  2. Click Traceroute.
  3. The result lists the individual stations on the way to the target.
