Everything about QoS
QoS (Quality of Service) is a network mechanism used to prioritise data traffic.
It ensures that time-critical applications such as BlueTV or VoIP are prioritised — especially during bandwidth limitations.
This is achieved by classifying and marking data packets, which are then treated differently within the network.
By implementing QoS technologies, Swisscom aims to provide an improved user experience and optimise its networks for current and future requirements.
The QoS configuration for BlueTV and VoIP is an integral part of the Centro Business Router and cannot be changed or customised by the user.
QoS functionality for the local network (LAN) is not offered on the Centro Business.
FAQ - QoS
Why is QoS important?
Through the targeted use of Quality of Service (QoS), Swisscom ensures that time-critical services such as BlueTV and VoIP are transmitted with priority — enabling stable, uninterrupted usage even under high network load.
Does QoS slow down the network?
QoS is not intended to slow down the network but to optimise it. While it gives priority to certain applications, it also helps improve overall network performance, making it more efficient and consistent.
