Router Management

The router portal offers various basic settings and functions for taking troubleshooting measures. More on "Access to the router portal"

Goal and Purpose

Besides the following functions, the "Router" menu offers further possibilities:

Manage router password

The password (also known as "admin password") is initially set by Swisscom and written to the device during commissioning. More on this under "Easy-Activation explained". If the password is to be changed, the router portal offers the option to set a new one under Router --> Password. If the password is unknown, a new password can be generated exclusively via My Swisscom Business under Internet - Router. This is automatically transmitted to the router.

Note:

The router password must be handled securely and confidentially. If it falls into the wrong hands, this can cause considerable damage.

Restart device

A restart (reboot) of the router can be triggered by a power interruption, pressing the power switch, or via a command in the router portal. Logically, this leads to a service interruption of around 6 minutes.

WAN Reset

With the WAN Reset, the router signals the command to Swisscom Router Management that all configuration parameters stored by Swisscom are to be written to the router again. This includes the "Easy-Activation" parameters. Local or personal settings made by the user remain preserved.

Reset to factory settings "Reset"

To delete all configurations and data from the router, a "Reset" is required in the router portal or via the reset button on the router. A reset should be performed mandatorily if the hardware is returned or resold, for example.
This guarantees that no personal data falls into the wrong hands

If the device is connected to the Internet on the same line during recommissioning, "Easy-Activation parameters" from Swisscom are written to the device again (router password, SSID and WLAN password, PPP credentials). All other personal configurations can be restored after the "Reset" using "Backup and Restore", provided a compatible backup was created beforehand.
